The Green Deal

The Green Deal The Green Deal has received quite a lot of negative press over the last year. The thing is its a massive undertaking and project and it is not going to launch in a perfect format! Any expectations along these lines are completely unrealistic. I can see the Green Deal evolving significantly in its first year. I do believe it will be a success once some of the issues are resolved and ironed out, its going to be a slow start but this is good as it gives all businesses involved a chance to test their systems. We are currenlty working with a number of the Big Six utilities with a view to providing EPCs for ECO and Affordable Warmth. We are just hoping DECC confirm the methodology for assessing property in relation to ECO will be an EPC only for the first 6 months or so. This could create a doubling in the size of the EPC market which will feed all concerned while we wait for our investments in Green Deal to come good. In addition, as CESP ends in December, we need to be carrying out EPCs for ECO and Affordable Warmth now in order to provide work to the Insulation Industry post CESP, if not the Industry could be in trouble come Jan/Feb 2013. If DECC go with a Green Deal Assessment on ECO from the outset (October) I really do not believe that business will be able to deliver large volumes due to low numbers of Green Deal Assessors by next month and I believe the Occupancy Assessment software could fall over with massive volumes! Come on DECC help the Industry and launch ECO with an EPC only requirement, just for the first 6 months or so?
